Hamdallah, Cypriot Foreign Minister Discuss Energy Cooperation
Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah discussed Thursday with visiting Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulidis cooperation between Palestine and Cyprus on various levels, but particularly energy.
A statement issued by Hamdallah’s office said the prime minister told Kasoulidis that the joint-Palestinian-Cypriot committee will work toward signing cooperation agreements between them in various sectors, but mainly in the energy sector.
He also stressed the importance of developing economic relations between their respective countries.
Kasoulidis had earlier met Foreign Minister Riyad Malki, who briefed his Cypriot guest on the Israeli obstacles against the peace process, including continuing settlement construction and the ongoing violations of the Palestinian rights.
A statement by the foreign ministry said Kasoulidis stressed the position of Cyprus towards the Palestinian issue, which is based on international law and the two-state solution, adding that his country will continue to support the State of Palestine within the European Union framework in the international forums.
He further showed willingness to provide economic support to Palestine especially in agriculture, tourism and water, as both agreed to form a joint committee aimed at consolidating their mutual relations on different levels.
