Occupation Forces Quell Activities Marking Land Day in Hebron
Al-Huriya News Agency - The occupation forces quelled demonstrations and popular events started in the city of Hebron in commemoration of 38th year of the Land Day.
Mohammad Awad, The spokesperson of Popular Committee to resist Settlements and Separation Wall in Beit Ummar, stated that occupation forces quelled a demonstration that was heading towards Jerusalem-Hebron street and fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas bombs.
He mentioned that, occupation forces intensified their existence at the entrance of the town using a launcher of wastewater to disperse the demonstrator.
In the same context, Committee of defending Hebron in collaboration with National powers organized a demonstration near Kiryat Arba’ settlement in condemnation of settlers’ takeover of Al-Rajabi house, and in commemoration of Land Day.
Demonstrators raised the Palestinian flag and other slogans that call for the withdrawal of Israeli court decision that gave settlers ownership over the house.
Activist in Committee of Defending Hebron, Mohammad Jebrini, stated “We commemorate the land day near al-Rajabi house to confirm our rejection of the occupation court decision to transfer the ownership of the house to the settlers. The building is part of the occupied Palestinian territories lands that was recognized by the united nations. Settlers’ existence in the city of Hebron is illegal in accordance with international laws”.
